Somehow ur strobe angle and coverage shifted, hence the backscatter on the left. Nice details. Try a frontal shot instead of a top shot. Shift the camera and try another shot. They usually stick around.Nice texture on the subject.

Thanks for the ideas, funny enough this was my only shot of this fish - it darted away after the strobe went off. Looks
like I will have to Photoshop it a bit more!

I see that the focus is slightly on the sponge (the far side). But I like the details and composition.
About backscatter?
It’s ok lahh…
